If there is one magazine you should subscribe to its Menopause Matters. It is a quarterly magazine packed with useful, accurate information and relevant articles.
In the recent autumn issue there is a brilliant article by the founder, publisher and managing director Heather Currie, which not only all women should read but also all the primary care workers who come in contact with menopausal women should read!
The title is Menopausal Myths busted - a fantastic series of black and white answers to some of the most common issues which some people have trouble getting an answer to...things like :-
FSH blood tests - usually NOT required
Saliva - does NOT determine which level of hormones to take
Oestrogen deficiency can affect urinary symptoms as well as vaginal ones
Don't stop that contraception just because you are having early signs of the menopause
Vaginal oestrogen - you need to give it at least 3 - 6 months to work ... be patient !
HRT does not just delay the inevitable menopausal symptoms
